I want to join - and why are boys so afraid of a needle?

Yesterday I had a really strange experience. I was asked to host an embroidery-workshop at a youth centre. Inappropriately during a concert. I knew from the beginning that it' s going to be tough to encourage people to do something, when they just came to be passive - just to consume music. And not to forget the volume. But when do you have the chance to do something you love for money? This almost never happens to me. More the opposite - to work in a theatre for free or to do something stupid and boring just for money. But that is another story. So I wanted to try it. Negative point for me - I failed to take some people with me who already wanted to do something and break the ice. Negative point for every male person in this room - a complete lack of interest. Some of the girls had at least a fundamental interest in it. The result of a small survey during the evening showed that the "boys" just don't do needlework - it just doesn' t fit into their concept of masculinity. For information: The youth centre has a mostly left-wing orientated audience - so I expected a bit more reflection from them. I don't want to write a gendertheory pamphlet now because I know people who can do this a lot better. To me it seems very sad that some boys are this little reflected and how narrow their self-image is. So boys stay boring if you want to, I just want to do something! So I made the decision to not fight against the windmill alone anymore like Don Quijote.
The decision is made - I want to join Craftivist Collective!
I already have a good idea what to do and where to do it! Who wants to join me?
